Westlife formed in Sligo in 1998, the product of an audition process in which Shane Filan, Kian Egan, and Mark Feehily — already working together as the local group Six As One, later IOYOU — were repackaged under Louis Walsh's management with the additions of Nicky Byrne and Brian McFadden.
