Inside London

London runs the deepest live-events market in Europe and one of the two or three deepest on the planet. Nine million people across thirty-two boroughs, the busiest theatre district in the world along the West End, and a venue grid that stretches from The O2 on the Greenwich Peninsula to Wembley Stadium at the end of the Jubilee line to O2 Academy Brixton — there is no week when something major is not on somewhere in this city. The arena and stadium tier alone covers most of the calendar. The O2 Arena books the biggest touring acts in the country and routinely tops Pollstar's global ticket sales rankings. Wembley Stadium handles 90,000-capacity stadium runs for headliners who can sell two or three nights — Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Coldplay, Harry Styles, Ed Sheeran have all parked summer residencies there. The OVO Arena Wembley sits next door at 12,500. Royal Albert Hall on the South Kensington edge runs the Proms every summer and books a year-round programme. Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith, O2 Academy Brixton, the Roundhouse, Hammersmith Apollo, Heaven, and KOKO cover the mid-tier circuit. The West End is the theatre capital of the English-speaking world — more than forty commercial theatres running between Shakespeare's Globe on the South Bank and Apollo Victoria near Victoria Station, eight shows a week across the district. Comedy runs nightly at Soho Theatre, Hackney Empire, Top Secret Comedy Club on Drury Lane, and the Comedy Store. Premier League football puts six top-flight clubs inside the M25 — Arsenal at the Emirates, Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, Tottenham at the new Spurs stadium, West Ham at the London Stadium, Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, and the smaller-ground sides cycling through. There is nowhere else in the world that books this much on a single Tuesday.

What's happening in London right now

The event grid on this page pulls live listings for every confirmed London show, gig, match, and festival on sale right now, sorted by date with the soonest at the top. Use the category filters to narrow it down to concerts, West End theatre, sports, comedy, or club nights, or scroll the full week if you are open on what to see. Each card links straight through to ticket availability. London runs on a tighter weekly rhythm than most capitals. Monday and Tuesday is the lightest tier — many West End matinees go dark, smaller indie gigs dominate, and the comedy clubs in Soho run new-material nights. Wednesday is the standard West End matinee day, which makes it the sharpest day for a double — 2.30 pm matinee and a 7.30 pm evening show with dinner between. Thursday onwards is the heavy stretch. Theatres are packed, the gig circuit at The O2, Brixton, Hammersmith Apollo, and the Roundhouse books its biggest shows, and Friday and Saturday clubs in Shoreditch and Dalston run until 4 or later. Borough patterns matter for planning. The West End and Soho cluster Theatreland, Heaven, KOKO on Camden's edge, and the Comedy Store within a fifteen-minute walk. The South Bank from Waterloo to Tower Bridge runs the Royal Festival Hall, Old Vic, National Theatre, and the BFI. East London — Shoreditch, Dalston, Hackney — runs the warehouse and indie circuit latest. Camden keeps the Roundhouse, Electric Ballroom, and the Jazz Cafe active. Pick a corridor, work the Tube map, hop between two or three rooms in one night.

London events this weekend

London weekends start Thursday and do not really stop until Sunday roast. Thursday after-work pubs across Soho, Shoreditch, and the City fill up by 6 pm, and the first West End curtains go up at 7 or 7.30. Friday is one of the heaviest theatre nights of the week, with the entire Theatreland district running an evening show plus The O2, OVO Wembley, Eventim Apollo, and the Roundhouse typically booked for an arena or mid-tier touring act. Saturday adds matinees — most West End houses run a 2.30 pm show alongside the 7.30 pm slot. Premier League fixtures shape the weekend more than anything else. Saturday 3 pm kickoffs at the Emirates, Stamford Bridge, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the London Stadium, or Selhurst Park pull tens of thousands across the Tube. Saturday 5.30 pm and Sunday 2 pm or 4.30 pm are the broadcast slots. Match-day pubs fill by mid-morning. Clubs in East London — XOYO, Village Underground, Fabric in Farringdon, Moth Club in Hackney — programme their biggest nights Friday and Saturday, most running 11 pm to 4 am. Sunday has its own rhythm. Pub roast service from noon to 4 pm fills every gastro pub from Hampstead to Peckham, with the best spots booking a week ahead. West End matinees now run a Sunday afternoon slot at a growing share of houses — Sunday is a standard performance day at most musicals post-pandemic. Sunday evening at the Royal Albert Hall, the South Bank, and the smaller jazz rooms tends to be the most relaxed live music tier of the week. The Tube's Sunday service runs a reduced timetable — check the last train if heading out of central late.

Things to do in London today

The fastest way to see what is on in London today is to scroll the event list above, which auto-sorts by start time. Same-day West End tickets are almost always available through the TKTS booth in Leicester Square — open daily from 10 or 11 am, with same-day stalls and circle seats at 20 to 50 percent off the box office. The TodayTix app runs digital lotteries for the biggest musicals at £25 to £40. Comedy clubs at the Comedy Store, Top Secret, and Soho Theatre nearly always have walk-up seats outside weekend headliners. London is a theatre matinee plus evening city. A 2.30 pm West End matinee, a quick dinner in Covent Garden or Soho, and a 7.30 pm second show is the local power move on Wednesdays and Saturdays. For tonight, check the Roundhouse, KOKO, Heaven, the Jazz Cafe, and Ronnie Scott's for last-minute gig availability. The O2, Wembley, and the bigger arena shows almost always sell out weeks ahead, but resale through verified UK secondary platforms covers most of the week. Transport reality shapes the late-night plan. The Tube's last train out of central runs roughly 12.30 to 1 am weeknights, earlier than most expect. Night Tube runs all night Friday and Saturday on the Victoria, Central, Jubilee, Northern, and Piccadilly lines plus the Overground from Highbury to New Cross. Night buses fill the rest. Past 1 am on a weeknight outside Night Tube coverage, budget £20 to £40 for a cab home.

Concerts

London is the first or last stop on essentially every major world tour. The O2 Arena on the Greenwich Peninsula handles the 20,000-capacity shows and routinely tops global ticket sales rankings. Wembley Stadium hosts the stadium-tier residencies in summer — multi-night Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Ed Sheeran, Coldplay runs are the standard. The OVO Arena Wembley next door handles 12,500-capacity tours. Royal Albert Hall books a year-round mix from classical to pop. Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith, O2 Academy Brixton, the Roundhouse in Camden, Alexandra Palace in north London, and Hammersmith Apollo cover the mid-tier circuit. The indie tier — Heaven, KOKO, Electric Ballroom, the Jazz Cafe, Scala in King's Cross, Village Underground in Shoreditch — books shows almost every night. Genre coverage is total.

West End theatre

The West End is forty-plus commercial theatres running between Shakespeare's Globe on the South Bank and the Apollo Victoria near Victoria Station, with the densest cluster around Theatreland in Covent Garden, Soho, and Leicester Square. Long-running musicals — Les Misérables, The Phantom of the Opera, The Lion King, Wicked, Hamilton, Mamma Mia, Mary Poppins, The Book of Mormon — sit alongside revivals at the National Theatre, the Old Vic, the Young Vic, the Royal Court, and the Almeida. New plays, Shakespeare at the Globe and the Bridge Theatre, immersive runs at the Bridge and the Vaults, and limited-run star vehicles fill the rest. Preview pricing, TKTS booth same-day discounts, and the TodayTix lottery are how locals see the West End without paying full price.

Comedy shows

London has the deepest comedy circuit in Europe. Soho Theatre on Dean Street programmes new work, Edinburgh Fringe transfers, and stand-up runs in three rooms across the building. Top Secret Comedy Club on Drury Lane has been the late-night working comic room since the late 2000s, with rotating sets from Live at the Apollo headliners. The Comedy Store in Leicester Square is the institution dating to 1979. Hackney Empire on Mare Street books bigger touring stand-up and variety in a 1,300-seat Edwardian theatre. Angel Comedy at the Camden Head and the Bill Murray in Islington run free new-material nights. The Bloomsbury Theatre, the Hammersmith Apollo, and the Eventim Apollo handle the biggest touring stand-up shows. Most weekend headliner shows sell out a week ahead.

Sports games

London hosts six Premier League clubs inside the M25 in a typical season, plus rugby, cricket, and the autumn NFL London Series. Arsenal play at the Emirates Stadium in Holloway (N7), Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in Fulham (SW6), Tottenham at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in N17, West Ham at the London Stadium in Stratford (E20), Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in SE25, and Brentford or Fulham cycling through depending on the season. The NFL plays three or four regular-season games at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and Wembley each October. The ATP Finals ran at The O2 from 2009 to 2020 and left a deep tennis legacy. Twickenham hosts England rugby and the Six Nations. Wimbledon arrives at the All England Club every late June.

Festivals

London's festival calendar is among the deepest in the world. BST Hyde Park runs two consecutive weekends in late June and early July with stadium-scale headliners on a stage that fits 65,000. All Points East in Victoria Park, Bow, runs across two weekends in late May or early June. Wireless Festival at Finsbury Park in early July runs hip-hop and R&B headliners. Lovebox in Gunnersbury Park covers dance and pop in mid-July. Notting Hill Carnival over August bank holiday weekend draws over a million people across the Sunday and Monday — Europe's biggest street festival. Glastonbury is a two-hour train ride from Paddington and a feasible day trip for the right ticket. Pride in London takes over central late June or early July with the main parade through Trafalgar Square.

Free events

London has more free programming than any other capital in Europe. Sky Garden at 20 Fenchurch Street offers free observation deck access with advance booking. The British Museum, the V&A, the Natural History Museum, the Science Museum, the Tate Modern, the Tate Britain, and the National Gallery are all permanently free. BST Hyde Park's Open House programming on the days between ticketed weekends runs free family events, fitness classes, and outdoor cinema. Trafalgar Square hosts free public concerts and events year-round. The South Bank from Waterloo to Tower Bridge runs free outdoor music, the Royal Festival Hall foyer programmes free daily performances, and Granary Square in King's Cross runs free outdoor events from May to September.

Live music

Outside the arena tier, London has the deepest small-venue circuit in Europe. Heaven under Charing Cross arches is the long-running LGBTQ+ club and live music space. KOKO in Camden reopened post-renovation with a new programming model after a long history as the Camden Palace. Electric Ballroom and the Jazz Cafe keep Camden's live music heritage active. The Roundhouse in Chalk Farm books mid-tier touring rock and indie. Scala in King's Cross, the Lexington in Pentonville, Bush Hall in Shepherds Bush, the Garage in Highbury, the 100 Club on Oxford Street, and the legendary Borderline (closed but its successors fill the gap) cover the indie tier. Ronnie Scott's in Soho runs the world-famous jazz room. Cover charges range from free to £40 depending on room and headliner.

Nightlife & clubs

London's club scene runs latest in East London. Shoreditch around Old Street and Hoxton, Dalston along Kingsland Road, Hackney around Mare Street, and Peckham south of the river are the heaviest weekend corridors. XOYO on Cowper Street, Village Underground on Holywell Lane, Fabric on Charterhouse Street in Farringdon, Moth Club in Hackney, Phonox in Brixton, Corsica Studios in Elephant and Castle, and Printworks (closed but the warehouse format lives on at successors) define the dance circuit. Brixton Jamm on Brixton Road handles south London. Most clubs open at 10 or 11 pm and run until 4 am or later, with selected venues running 24-hour licences over weekend bank holidays. The Night Tube runs all night Friday and Saturday on the main lines.

Top neighborhoods

West End / Soho

The West End and Soho cluster the densest concentration of entertainment in Europe — forty-plus commercial theatres between Covent Garden, Leicester Square, and the Strand, plus the Comedy Store in Leicester Square, KOKO across the Camden edge at Mornington Crescent, Soho Theatre on Dean Street, Heaven under the Charing Cross arches, the Roundhouse a quick Northern line ride up to Chalk Farm, and Ronnie Scott's on Frith Street running nightly jazz since 1959. Dinner reservations across Soho and Covent Garden book solid on show nights — most pre-theatre menus run 5.30 to 7 pm with 90-minute turns. The Piccadilly, Northern, Bakerloo, Central, and Victoria lines all converge in the area, making it the most transit-accessible event district in the city.

South Bank / Waterloo

The South Bank from Waterloo east to Tower Bridge runs one of the densest cultural corridors in the world. The Royal Festival Hall on Belvedere Road programmes classical, jazz, and pop year-round, with free daily foyer concerts. The Queen Elizabeth Hall and Purcell Room handle smaller-scale performances. The National Theatre books three stages of new and classic theatre. The Old Vic on the Cut and the Young Vic on the same road run major productions. The BFI Southbank programmes year-round film. Shakespeare's Globe sits a quick walk along the river. Royal Albert Hall across the river in South Kensington is a 15-minute Tube ride. Waterloo and Embankment stations serve the Bakerloo, Jubilee, Northern, and Waterloo & City lines.

East London / Shoreditch / Hackney

East London — Shoreditch around Old Street, Hoxton and Dalston along Kingsland Road, and Hackney around Mare Street and London Fields — runs the warehouse and indie venue circuit that defines the city's late-night music scene. XOYO on Cowper Street, Village Underground on Holywell Lane, Cargo on Rivington Street, and the Old Blue Last on Great Eastern Street cluster around Shoreditch. Moth Club on Old Trafford Road in Hackney books indie gigs and DJ nights in a former British Legion hall. Hackney Empire on Mare Street is the grand 1,300-seat Edwardian theatre running stand-up and music. Most rooms run until 2 to 4 am. The Overground, the Central line, and the new Elizabeth line all serve the corridor.

Camden

Camden is the live music heart of north London. The Roundhouse on Chalk Farm Road is the 3,000-capacity former engine house that has booked Pink Floyd, Hendrix, and current indie and electronic headliners. The Electric Ballroom on Camden High Street books mid-tier touring acts and weekly club nights. The Jazz Cafe on Parkway has run nightly soul, jazz, hip-hop, and Latin programming for thirty years. KOKO at Mornington Crescent reopened after its renovation as a multi-tier venue with a rooftop. The Dublin Castle on Parkway is the legendary indie pub-venue where Madness played early shows. The Northern line drops you at Camden Town or Chalk Farm. Camden Market and the pub circuit make it a full-day destination.

Brixton / South London

Brixton in south London runs on O2 Academy Brixton — the 4,900-capacity art deco room on Stockwell Road that books the biggest touring acts that fall between mid-size halls and the arena tier. The room's sloped floor design makes it one of the best gig venues in the country. Brixton Jamm on Brixton Road handles club nights and live music in two rooms. The Hootananny on Effra Road runs reggae, ska, and dub. Electric Brixton next to the Academy programmes club nights and live shows. Around Brixton Village and the surrounding food halls, pre-gig pints and street food fill every block. The Victoria line drops you at Brixton, the southern terminus, and the Night Tube runs all weekend.

Greenwich / North Greenwich

North Greenwich on the Greenwich Peninsula is anchored by The O2 — the 20,000-capacity flagship arena that routinely tops global ticket sales rankings, surrounded by the Entertainment District with restaurants, a cinema, a casino, and the Up at The O2 climbing experience. Indigo at The O2 is the 2,800-capacity sister venue inside the dome, booking comedy, smaller-scale music, and corporate events. The Jubilee line drops you at North Greenwich, with the journey from central London taking about 15 minutes. The MBNA Thames Clippers also serve the venue from piers across central London. Down the road in Maritime Greenwich, the Old Royal Naval College, the National Maritime Museum, and Greenwich Park add a full day of programming around any O2 show.
