Everything you should know before you book
The City of Arts & Sciences is Valencia's signature sight — Santiago Calatrava's white sculptural buildings stretched along the old Turia riverbed. The Oceanogràfic is Europe's largest aquarium, the Science Museum (Museu de les Ciències) is hands-on and great for families, and the Hemisfèric is an IMAX-and-planetarium dome under a giant glass 'eye'.
Book the Oceanogràfic with timed entry in summer. It is the busiest part of the complex and queues build by late morning; an early slot or a combo that bundles the Science Museum and Hemisfèric saves both money and waiting. The Palau de les Arts opera house also offers guided tours of its dramatic interior.
Frequently asked questions
Is a combo ticket worth it for the City of Arts & Sciences?
Yes if you want more than the aquarium — bundling the Oceanogràfic, Science Museum, and Hemisfèric is cheaper than three separate tickets and skips re-queuing.
How long do you need at the Oceanogràfic?
Plan 3–4 hours for the aquarium alone; add half a day if you also do the Science Museum and a Hemisfèric show.
Is the complex good for kids?
Very — the Science Museum is fully hands-on, the Oceanogràfic has a dolphinarium, and the whole site is stroller-friendly along the riverbed park.
